Anxiety, advice please?

Ok, so im 34 and my bf and i have been together 2 years, and just decided to start ttc. Big step for us, and I'm super excited, went to a new obgyn and got my nexplanon removed 6/28, just got a call today that my pap was abnormal and they want me to come back next week for a colposcopy and biopsy, and im freaking out. So many questions going through my brain, did i wait too long, are we going to be able to concieve, why is it abnormal? I've been diligent in the past about getting tested, but im getting really freaked out.....helpful advice? Please?!

I went through this 2 years ago. The coloscopy is a little painful. Mainly because the speculum is in for so long. The biopsy doesn't hurt. I get a pap every year and this was the first one that came back abnormal. The biopsy showed I had advanced abnormality (I forgot the term) so my doctor had to do a leep procedure under general anesthesia (not usually done this way but she wasn't sure until she was doing the procedure whether it would be leep or cone and the cone is more invasive). She was able to get clear margins and the lab tests came back benign.  I have had one pap since then and it came back normal. Having another in august. It is all very nerve wracking but does not affect your ability to get pregnant. If you end up having to have a leep, you may have to have a cervical stitch put in once your pregnant because the scarring can affect the cervix ability to stay closed during pregnancy. I have also read that scarring can grow over your cervix and prevent sperm from entering but that can be fixed. You would know if this happens because you wouldn't have normal or a period at all because the fluid can't get out. I didn't have that issue and people I know did not have that issue either. You will be fine :) just an obstacle you have to get through :)

Take a deep breath, follow their instructions and start worrying only if something comes back abnormal on the colpo.

BTW I'm 34 too. You didnt say if your pap came back hpv positive or not, but my doctor told me that the hpv virus can live in your body for a long time before it becomes an issue. So it doesn't mean you got it from your bf. It's very difficult to tell where you got it from.

I've had a colop, then a few years later a leep.  Usually an abnormal pap is hpv, which is pretty common. I had no issues conceiving. You will want o ask hiw long to wait since you'll have some scaring tissue bur won't impact getting pregnant
