Just started the pill 2 weeks ago

I started the pill immediately after I was given my first pack 2 weeks ago. It was the middle of my cycle. I started them on June 21st and my next period was supposed to happen around July 4th/5th. My doctor had told me my period would be delayed until the 4th week of my pack and after that my cycle would match the pack, however I still got my period on the 4th. I've continued taking the pills everyday as directed, but will I get another period during my 4th week of pills? And if so will I continue to have a period every two weeks or will my cycle eventually match the pills? I was thinking of stopping the pills after this pack and starting my new pack when my natural cycle starts, but I've read online I should still continue taking the pills and my body will adjust. Thoughts or suggestions?

I should also add this period is a little different than my normal periods, the blood is darker than normal (sometimes seems closer to brown), but I'm assuming that's a result from the pill?
