Eat play sleep schedule

Eat, play, sleep schedule. Does anyone have their baby on this schedule? I'm trying to get mine on this schedule but it seems like she can only stay awake for roughly an hour to an hour and a half and then only naps for 30 mins to an hour. So if I feed her when she wakes, she is feeding every 2 to 2 1/2 hours. But I thought the point of this schedule was to get them to go eat every 3 hours. I'm just curious to see anyone else's opinions on this schedule and what seemed to work for you?? My lo is 4 months.
