One and done ?

We always talked about having a big family but after having our first little one I'm thinking I want to be one and done. I love my little one so much but I couldn't imagine having to go through the newborn stage and raise a toddler. My husband said I'm selfish but I'm the one home all day, I'm the one who wakes up every 3hours to feed him. Our family is 3 states away and I don't want anyone else watching him so it's literally my son and I 24/7. I got very sick last week ended up in the hospital I could barely get out of bed but my husband couldn't just take off work because his job doesn't allow it . We also fight all the time now and I don't want to bring another little one into that I already feel bad enough having argument with our son around

Am I wrong for wanting it one and done ?

Ps. I told him I will see what it's like once little one sleeps through the night and I'm done breastfeeding.

Wait a few years and you might change your mind. But if not, don't do something you know you can't handle. It will just lead to more stress and strain on your relationship.

I too am thinking one and done. I am soon to be 40 and should have a baby  in the next year as my dr has said. I can't envision having a toddler and infant and being thoroughly exhausted. 💤 my baby is 5 weeks old and eats also every 3 hours. My hubby helps but sometimes not as much as I need him too. I keep
Saying you need to know because what if something happens to me. Maybe you need to bring up that you are arguing and it's upsetting and having a second may make the situation worse. You need to be good as a couple to be good for your baby.

There is nothing selfish about that. I suggest you take a little trip and leave hubby at home for a few days with the baby. Men who are at work all day have no idea what it's like to take care of a child 24/7. I attended a wedding by myself when my son was almost two, my husband was with my son alone for less than 48 hours. When I got home he thanked me for doing such a difficult job. Sometimes they need a little wake up call.

Finding a reputable, trustworthy sitter might ease your feeling of being "stuck" (for lack of a better word) with your baby 24/7. Even if you have an hour or two break for a mani/pedi or to go grocery shopping.

I think you shouldn't make any permanent decisions whilst going through the newborn stage. Everything sucks when you're sleep deprived.

Ultimately, it has to be a mutual decision between you and your husband regardless of what anyone else says.

Wait a little bit. You're still adjusting and will probably change your mind several times. Let the baby get a little older, then start thinking about where you stand on wanting more kids

There's nothing wrong with not wanting another kid, or wanting to wait until things are more stable and your little one is older. You're the one that has to go through being pregnant and having the child. So. You have every right to say hey I'm not really interested in having another baby.

If he's not able to help, sounds like he doesn't do much then I think you should wait awhile before deciding if it's what's best for you and your family. Could you pump and have him wake up and feed the baby a few times a night?

I wouldn't have another baby so soon especially if things aren't going so great right now. Wait another year and then revisit the subject. My husband and I never wanted another child after we had our daughter but once she started school we changed our minds and we are now ttc.

That's not selfish, no one should pressure anyone into a child when they aren't comfortable with it.

After being a stay at home home mom I am one and done as well. I love my daughter so much and am so greatful for all the time I get to be with her but I know I do not want anymore children. There is nothing selfish about knowing what is best for you.
