Baby hates car seat

My 6 week old hates his car seat and has been that way since the day we brought him home from the hospital. I want to be able to take him places but he always screams and cries in the car and also whenever we get to where we're going if he has to stay in his seat (like the mall or grocery store etc.) I have the Eddie Bauer Alpine 4 travel system idk if any other mommies have this for their little one and experience the same thing. Any ways to try and get him to stay calm? Would maybe switching to a convertible car seat help?
