Amniocentesis Diagnostic Test

So I'm getting a amniocentesis diagnostic test done on Monday because of a previous ultra sound scan I had done that showed my amniotic fluid was low.Are they giving me this test just to check to make sure my baby has nothing wrong with her or because they already detect or sense that something may be wrong with her?? I'm so scared and confused and just want my baby to be alright.
