Breast milk or lanolin?

I'm finishing up my check list of things I need and nipple cream is on it. I am a STM, but I formula fed my first. I've heard you can use breast milk for chaffing/sore nipples?

I swear by breast milk, just a little on the nipple and let it air dry (think of how great air drying does when baby has a diaper rash). This time around I made my own nipple cream with coconut oil, Shae Butter and vitamin E oil. I heard coconut oil alone also works great.

I've heard of lanolin or coconut oil. I myself am going to use coconut oil as I and my whole family have a sever allergy to lanolin. My mom had used lanolin for my sister and I and it did NOT end well with her poor nipples... Can you say ouch!

I haven't heard of the breast milk before so I can't say much on that topic.

I'm a FTM and I will be using Coconut oil on mine first to see how it does, if not then I plan on looking into other options! :)

Lanolin did nothing for me. Breastmilk solved my cracked nipples in a day after trying to use lanolin to fix them for a month and a half. But it sounds like it depends on the person so maybe get a small tube of lanolin and try both! My hospital gave me a tinytube  that lasted quite a while.

Breastmilk is amazing though. I put it on pimples and cuts and it works wonders! I'll be so sad when my breastfeeding days are totally over hahahahaha!

I had the lanolin, it was the gold package. I work with a lot of bf moms who swear by bm, but personally I loved the cream. I only used it when starting out to help.
