confused what God is doing

my grandfather just died a week ago and I met an amazing person who truly inspired me in Christ's name and we had an amazing time together. but then last night it was a complete 360 and he told me basically he wanted to be with me he just wasn't sure if God wanted him to be with me.

I don't know what do or think. I thought he was a gift from God and an ironic blessing but now he is potentially wanting to rid himself of me.
