Boyfriend doesn't believe in marriage, but calls me his wife?

My boyfriend told me he doesn't believe in involving the government into his personal life, that's why he doesn't believe in marriage.

Though we are girlfriend and boyfriend, he calls me his wife. I directly told him I am not as such, I am his girlfriend. He seems to think otherwise and said he would marry if I wanted.

Are his views skewed?

Well, if he said he'd marry you if you want then I guess why does it matter what his views are? I don't like the government in my business either but if he's willing to do it for you then it sounds like he's willing to put aside his beliefs for your happiness. He's entitled to have his opinion on anything he wants and it doesn't sound like it's hurting your relationship at all

Yeah....id definitely put my foot down on that one. You are his girlfriend. If he wants to give you that wife status then he needs to sign the papers that give you the rights to it. Marraige changes things. You cant just walk away once you sign those papers. That's why marraige is considered sacred. He could up amd leave any time he wants to at this point, and so could you. That is not the case once you are married. My husband tried to say he doesnt believe in marraige too. But after 7 years he proposed. I never nagged him...but we did have talks about how i cant completely trust him unless we were married. I would never want to buy a house with him, or have kids with him unless we were married. I stood by my convictions (kindly) and he started to see why marraige was so important to me and then those things became important to him, too. It just took him longer to realize it. Dont lose hope. Men just take longer to grow up.

In my state, if you refer to eachother as husband and wife for a few months you are technically common law married.
