Kate is my grandmothers name and both my husband and I love the name, but I'm worried it's too close to my sisters name she is katelyn and we call her katie.

I wouldn't name sisters Kate and Katie but I think it's fine for an aunt and a niece especially when there's meaning behind it

Well obviously it's close to her name, but if that's an issue is up to you. If she's named after your grandma then it's not like you're just using the same name...
