Would u let your 9yr old daughter be in delivery room while giving birth??

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and last baby and my 8 year old daughter (will be 9 at time of birth) asked me if she can watch her baby sister's birth..I don't really know how I feel about it...my mom says she's old enough and I guess if she wants to then I should let her but I just wanted to see what u ladies think or if u have given your daughter the experience of witnessing u give birth to their sibling ...TIA

If she has asked and you are OK with her seeing you in a half naked state, then I say yes. Make sure one person, not you or your husband, is responsible for her, labor can be long and she may get tired, bored or cranky and need to be taken home, taken for a meal or otherwise entertained. You can also set some rules for your own comfort, she can stand at your shoulder, sit on the chair etc. Whatever makes you comfortable. Also, make a "safe word" with the person carrying for her. If at point you say "chocolate milk" the person should take her out for a treat as you need a moment, or heaven forbid something goes wrong, that way she isn't scared or upset and doesn't really know what's happening if you need her to leave the room.
I think it's wonderful that she wants to share in the birth of her sister.

I'm having my daughter in the room when her sister is born.  She is 9 and personally it's your decision not anyone else's and I don't care what people think its my life and my kids and its a special time and special bonding experience ❤❤

My daughter was 9 when my last baby was born. She had no intrest at the time; however, now that she is 14 she really wants to be there. She is in the medical program at her school and wants to be a cardiologist so I said sure. We both love science and the human body and I think this will be great bonding time for her, the baby and me too. Plus if she sees first hand what labor is like maybe that may make her think twice about becoming sexually active. I know with my first baby( actually it was my daughter I was pregnant with at the time) I was horrified at watching the birthing video in my birthing class!! To know that I would have to go through that scared the crud outta me!!! Seems like a win win to me! Good luck on your choice!

I say if shes got her period already sure but if not no cause if she hasnt even gone through the detailed go through of how all her parts work she may be thinking the babies killing you or something . Its a bit graphic . Maybe just at the top back & not let her get too close to the legs ?

I am a FTM. But what I would do is discuss with your daughter what is going to happen, what it might look like, and who will be around. I bet you could google and find some tips on how to peruse get. Ultimately it's your choice. Your mom might feel she's "old enough" while you may think she can't handle it. Does she know how babies are made and where they come from? I think it would also depend on how comfortable you are with her seeing your body like that. I know birth is natural but not everyone comfortable with being exposed even to loved ones.

I don't see nothing wrong with it! Just talk with her about what to expect so she don't freak out seeing something unexpectedly! Let her know even though you might be screaming and in pain that you are okay and it's all apart of the birth process! Honestly only you can really tell if your daughter will be mentally prepared for it! If you not completely sure I would sit down and talk with her about what she think it's going to be like and what would scare her and what not!

I was 8 and 10 when my brothers were born and with the first one, my mom got me books explaining pregnancy and how baby was developing and it was so interesting to me, I loved learning about what was going on inside her. And I hated being stuck out in the hallway, waiting or at home, waiting. I would have loved to be in the room with her. I'd say maybe take her through some less graphic educational books to give her an idea of what's happening and see if she's still interested. But if she has expressed an interest then its obviously something she wants to be a part of and if more info doesn't change her mind, then she really is ready.

I wanted to be in the room when my mom got a C-Section for my brother, I was 10 at the time lol

But I believe I've always been more mature for my age (when I was young) 😊 You should be able to know if your daughter is mature enough or not.

At our hospital they would not allow anyone younger than 12 in during delivery. Maybe check your hospitals policy.
