Evening primrose oil ... Did it work?

So I am 37+4 days. My doc has recommended I start taking primrose oils because my cervix hasn't effaced at all and I am only at 1.5cm for over a week now. I also have a bit of scar tissue which makes it harder for me to efface. I am wondering how did you ladies take it if you did ? Orally ? Vaginally? What were the outcomes? Do you think it worked?

It didn't help me, but I know many women who swear by it. At 36 weeks, I started taking it once in the morning and at night time it was inserted vaginally. The reason I had taken it so soon, was because my daughter was already in the birth canal, my OBGYN could feel her head, but I wasn't dilating at all. He suggested that to soften my cervix. I took it and it didn't soften my cervix whatsoever and I ended up needing to be induced after weeks of this routine (on top of other natural ways to help progress labor). I still tore during labor as well, however, who is to really know if I would have tore worse had I not taken it.

If you were to use it, I'd suggest what my doctor told me, once in the morning and once inserted at night. Good luck darlin!

Both orally and vaginally. I definitely believe it helps. With my first two i was induced. Took it with my.next 2 and had labor come on its own and one was 4 hrs and one 3 and one was only an hour. I think it was because the primrose oil softened my cervix and made dilation way easier for.my body. Definitely worth a try

I'm taking one or early in the morning and one vaginally at night. my last appointment at 37 weeks my doctor said my cervix is very soft. I wouldn't start taking them until 36 weeks though. Also if you haven't heard already I would make sure you wear a pantiliner or pad if you insert vaginally at night because you will be oil.
