Child support.

I need an opinion here. My dad is a huge dead beat. He left my mom when I was 8 and she raised my little brother and I on her own. My dad owes her $20,000 dollars in child support (about half of that being late fees and interest) I am 23 now and my brother is 20, and he's finally off his lazy ass and he's going to pay $10,000. Both my brother and I, think we should get some of this money. We havent asked for a huge amount. Just $1000 each. It wpuld still leave my mom with $8000. I think I deserve a small fraction of this, since I am the innocent child who got wrapped up in all this shit. My mom had to work 2 jobs just to keep a roof over our heads but we never had new shoes, winter boots or coats. I used to get seconds from school lunch so I could take it home for dinner. The house we lived in didnt even have furniture.

My mom is pretty financially stable now, while my brother and I are just starting out. What do you think? Should my mom give us both a small cut of the money?
