Herpes type 1??

Question

So my gyno called today and told me I have herpes type 1. Which is the cold sore virus. I tested negative for type 2 which is genital herpes. I've never even had a cold sore before nor have I done anything with someone who has! I'm kinda nervous about it. What's next? Does this make me gross? What can/can't I do now? Or is everything just gonna be the same? And I can only give it to someone else if I have a cold sore, right?

Its no big deal!! Dont freak out. You'd be surprised how many people have it . i got it from my s.o who got it from his mom when he was a baby. If you do get a cold sore ever , just buy some abreva it works miracles !

According to the CDC, more than half the population of the US has the HSV-1 virus so you're definitely not alone. There are some great online resources devoted to herpes education and worth a read. Generally, you have nothing to worry about. You're not gross, you're not just randomly going to give it to someone else. If you have never shown any signs or symptoms count yourself lucky.

I don't get cold sores but I have HSV-1. I have it in the genital region(yes, it's possible to have either type orally or in the genital region) so I don't have the exact same issues, but my one tip for you is to not stress over anything! Stress is the main trigger not only for me but also for the majority of others with HSV. In order to avoid an outbreak try new relaxtion activities like baths, yoga, running etc. Also, eating healthy, exercising, and suppressants are a great way to keep outbreaks at bay too. I know it's hard to accept at first but trust me, things could be so much worse

Almost everyone has herpes type 1. You're fine haha. It usually doesn't come with symptoms, but if it does there's obviously a lot of medicines for cold sores. Don't feel gross! You're one of many and you can even get it by sharing a drink with someone
