Who pays for dinner?

This is bothering me.
 
It makes me feel bad and a little inferior when my boyfriend pays for me all the time when we go out. But apparently it's expected? This is my first major relationship so I don't really understand it. I feel misogynistic conforming to this tradition, especially because when my boyfriend and I talk about "who's the boss" I don't feel like I have much of an argument, but the women should always be in charge of the relationship in my opinion.
Edit: sorry I didn't mean to say "in charge," I guess but I hate feeling reliant on my partner.

I don't think I should pay every single time, but I don't think he should either, and he's done that since we've met.

What do you guys feel about stuff like this?

Women should always be in charge of a relationship??? That's stupid. I think no one should be in charge and make decisions together. A relationship is about two people equally and not one or the other. Or that one person gets to be "in charge" more than the other. That's the stupidest thing I have heared.

For the longest time in our relationship when we went out he'd pay because he had the money and I didn't, my job didn't pay much and I only worked part time while I was in uni full time covering most of my costs with my student loans. He worked a decent job full time, so if he wanted to go out for dinner he knew he'd be paying. I usually suggested nice stay at home dates or I'd pay for going out for coffee or something the small <$10 dates that I could manage.  After we moved in together and then I finished school and got a full time job we kinda don't really keep track anymore. It's all our money regardless of who pays so usually whoever got paid the most recently or has the most wiggle room that pay week ends up paying for the outing. And now with our baby on the way and after avoiding making a bank appointment for a joint account since we got married almost 3 years ago we will be making it official and lumping all our bills and incomes into the same account just to make life easier after baby.

I like a woman to be strong and independent! Of course it's nice to be treated to dinner, but in this day and age a guy often likes to be treated too! If I were you, I'd take my purse and offer to go halves and if he offers to pay the full whack, then that's an added bonus!

My boyfriend and I take turns paying for dates. Like if we have a date this weekend, he'll pay for it. Then the next time we have a date I'll pay for it. Then it goes to him for the next date. It makes it more equal that way for us.

Just talk to him about it and tell him that you want it to be more even. I think that in general, the men want to pay for dinner, it's just being a gentleman. But obviously not all girls like that, and times are changing so that isn't as common anymore. You shouldn't feel like he's being misogynistic just because he wants to pay for stuff in your relationship, just sit down and talk to him about it.

My boyfriend always pays for dinner/dates for us. I offer to pay but he always insists (it's in his culture to do so). I always buy him lots of gifts though! let's him know how thankful I am for him.
