Wine debate

Stevonne
So is it true that it is ok to drink a glass of red wine occasionally while pregnant? I was at a get together recently and was offered a glass of wine I turned it down because I wasn't sure if I should even though she told me her OB/GYN told her it was ok while pregnant. On the other hand a friend of mines says her OB/GYN told her absolutely no while pregnant. I haven't talked to OB/GYN yet but I wanted to know what all of you ladies where told.

I always say this...would you feed it to your baby outside the womb? If the answer is no then there is your answer. I totally get it. I was a complete wine snob pre-pregnancy and the last 9 months have been torture! Lol I find that smelling other people's wine helps and I can almost remember what it taste like...lol 9 months is a small sacrifice for the life of our little ones. There's too much uncertainty with this issue. I rather just avoid it all together to be on the safe side. My angel is worth it!

I'm a FTM and i use to be a full time drinker lol jk but i did like to drink wine and liquors its in my blood im from new orleans so its been kind of hard especially since everyone drinks around me all the time!! i hate to be a party pooper so i just stick to my juice and water but I will never think of brunch and bottomless mimosas the same again!! My family did a champagne toast at my baby shower in new orleans and i got to drink sparkling grape juice :( but when i think about this child i just dont even regret it......but as soon as i can drink again shots for everyone!!

Stress is worse than a small glass of wine occasionally. I would wait until out of the first trimester though.

Just wait until your babes is born you're not going to die if you don't and why put babes in any harms way even if it's small. Babies are blessings. 😊

I miss drinking socially but I prefer not to do anything that would harm my baby so it's not a big deal I've done it 2 times before now I was wondering because the ok to drink wine thing is new to me

It depends who you ask lolActually I read that American and Canada are the only places in the world who think a glass ofWine or a drink during pregnancy is completely unacceptable. Obviously it shouldn't be done in the first trimester when the baby is forming, but from what I hear from other people, it's not a big deal to have a glass or 2 in your entire pregnancy. I haven't drank at all, but I honestly don't even want to so why would I? If you were craving it or something I would understand but I personally just don't need it.

In Australia they say not to have any as they can't prove what is a safe amount to consume, to be safe they say none

Yes. Many other countries, like France do not see it as bad. It's all about moderation.

That's interesting so other countries say it's ok?

Some low alcohol percentage white wine with club soda...- a white wine spritzer is fine! Once in a blue.

I haven't had any alcoholic drink since my positive test in last December and as I plan to BF and have a second baby in two years and BF that one too, I am looking into years of abstinence. But I feel like I don't want to risk, so far I am good and ok with it. It just gives me ease of mind

Just no. There is no known safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy. Sure you might (or even probably would) have a baby that's just fine if you have a couple glasses of wine, but you also might not.
