Deep latch... Is it a myth?!

So my little boy is 6 days old and so far so good. breastfeeding is going pretty well, he always wants boob, drinks a ton and is growing. However, on the right side my nipple is always left compressed and pinched. It hurts so bad, but I just keep watching videos and trying to figure out what I'm doing so differently on the right side vs the left. I plan on attending a meetup but there isn't one until sat and I just need my nipple to heal, it's cracked and starting to look bloody. Plus my right boob is so much more full bc I can't nurse him for as long on it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
