Normal ?

So around 4 or 5 this morning I went to the restroom and when I wiped I had jelly pinkish white discharge and I guess that's when my contractions started they are intense now . since then I still been having contractions but not 5 mins apart . I still also have discharge like pinkish white . is this normal am I suppose to keep having this discharge till I go to labor or do I go to the hospital ? My friend said I shouldn't go cause they will just have me lay there in pain till I deliver . but I just wanted other opinions and advice cause I'm worried this is my first baby .
