Using supplements

My baby is 4 days old and latching on fine. I can see I have colostrum but no milk yet. He feeds for awhile on each breast but he'll start crying after awhile like he's not getting enough and starving. I was told to also give him supplements if he does this. Anyone else go through this and did your milk finally come in? I hate that I have to give him supplements and it's just making me emotional
