Diva cup?!?!

Question

Can Someone please tell me why I should get a diva cup instead of tampons because right now it just seems like a lot of mess for me. Especially when you're in a bathroom and might not have a lot of privacy. I know you have to wash it off or something. Please help!!

I use a menstrual cup and I personally love it! I'm currently on my second cup (first was a diva cup) and I'm happy that I made the switch. Sometimes it does take some time to get use to having to fold it certain ways to get in, I've never had any major issues with leakage except for if I put it in or clean it a couple hours before bed and then wake up extremely late- if you know you're a heavy bleeder you may have to change it more than others.

When it comes to needed to clean it out in public I usually will bring a water bottle or something small you can put water into and toss in a bag or backpack. If you manage to get a one stall bathroom it's not that bad going out and cleaning it out, but if there are a lot of stalls or people that's when I pull out the water bottle and just pour it out in the toilet and give it a rinse. That way I don't look like a crazy woman coming out the stall with this bloody bundle in my hands lol.

I got a friend to start using a diva cup recently who was afraid to use tampons and she personally loves it. It does take some getting used to but overall I love it.

I love that I can wear it from morning until evening without having to change it. Once you get the hang of it, it is cknpletely leak free unless it is filled to the max (never happened to me).

I love that I don't have to carry extra (very practical when traveling). Also, when I know my period could start, I put it in just in case. Not something you can do with tampons.

There are lots of reasons people use diva cups, I'll give you the basics and then go into detail

Cons
-not always easy to get into place
-can't take it out in public
-kinda messy to get out

Pros: Tampons and pads create a LOT of waste, which creates a lot of pollution. They use bleach and a lot of other crap that can worsen your bleeding or create internal scarring and worsens cramps. The cup is made of silicone and can be reused for at least a year. It's easy to clean, and all you really have to do is dump it in the toilet and rinse it out in the sink. A cup costs around 40 dollars but saves you a lot of money, instead of having to buy boxes of tampons for a year or so. It's definitely cheaper. There's no risk of tss, because silicone does not collect and grow bacteria like tampons and pads.

Cons (at least for me)
There is a special way you have to fold the cup to get it in, most of the time it's fairly simple but sometimes it's 
Just not staying in place  and can leak a little. You also have to squat to put it in so you can't do that in stalls, you also have to clean it in the sink out of the stall and that can make you look crazy. Sometimes when you take it out it spills but it's not really hard to clean up. I used to use one but felt like it was pushing against my uterus and made my cramps worse.

Because my period was so heavy, it lasts much longer and leaks less than a pad or tampon for me.

So, even though I had to empty it in public restrooms sometimes, it's better than putting a fresh tampon/pad then leaking through my pants 30 minutes later because of a big clot on a heavy day. I also don't have to bring anything into the bathroom with me.
