Help!!!

Me and my partner are trying for a baby however my periods are a little strange at the moment so I'm finding it hard to track my fertile days. I normally start spotting for a couple of days then I come on my period properly which lasts about 3 or 4 days. Do I count my start date as the day I first start spotting? 😕
