Buying diapers now or later?

Question

We have all the essentials for our baby's arrival but have not begun shopping for diapers! Have you already bought diapers? I'm afraid of not knowing whether they'll be a good fit (weight, skin sensitivity) for the baby or not! Is it best to wait till she is born?

Also can you return diapers?

I've started buying to help spread the cost out. Just going off the recommendations of friends and saving the receipts in case I need to exchange.

I started buying a little here and there. Plus I got a really good deal on a 504 count box of wipes. I'm just going to buy different brands and sizes. If something doesn't agree with my baby, my sister & about 10 other people I know are pregnant haha.

My friends have done diaper raffles at their showers where they end up with boxes of various brands and sizes a few months before baby. They've had no issues exchanging or returning for store credit at places like target and Walmart

I used to work at a large department store - yes you can totally return/exchange for a different size. But as far as buying, every time we go to the grocery store (since we found out we were pregnant), we pick up a box in various sizes! And then we registered for some too! :) that was the advice we got from friends who had kids!
