Debt: what's normal?

Question

Between my husband and I we have about $19,000 worth of debt. That includes car loans, personal loans, credit cards and medical bills. I am 21 and my husband is 30. Is that a normal amount?

The only thing that I think is potentially a problem is credit card debt. That's just so costly. We have some student loan debt but pay off our credit cards in full every month. I wouldn't feel comfortable with having any credit card debt, personally.

I have about $14,000 just on my own but 90% of that is student loans

We have zero debt other than our mortgage. We made it a point to pay off any dollar we owed before we got married. We pay our credit cards in full every month and don't have car payments or student blessed! As long as your make your payments on time every month and keep your utilization under 9% of your total available credit, having balances won't affect your negatively. We're 31.

Me and hubby dont have any debt, thank God, but we plan on financing a truck and buying a house soon. Based on what others have in debt Id say yours isnt that bad

That is REALLY low, especially for your age! My husband and I have about $23k down from $45k not counting our mortgage. I am 28 and he is 34. Way to go! Kind of jealous haha

I have a small amount of debt that will be paid off soon, about $1,000. He has much more because of strident loans but that's it. We've bought every car outright/used and don't have a house yet.

I'm 23 my SO is 20 and I have about $5,000 left on my student loans and he is fortunate enough to go to school debt free so we only have my $5,000 that will be paid off by the end of the year.

Between my husband and I we have close to $50,000 in debt... $22,000 alone in credit cards and personal loans the remainder is from our car... Makes me sick because catching up is impossible

We have no debt besides 2 of our 3 homes.

I can't imagine walking around with debt like that.
