I am SO worried!!!
So prior to painting my LO's nursery, I researched it & after reading that it was safe I decided to do it (with the help of my husband). We used Sherwinn Williams paint which I was told is the safest. He did the priming since we read was more dangerous during pregnancy. It became an exhausting task after my husband who isn't a perfectionist like I am, messed up the ceiling & trim. So then we painted the ceiling, & then we painted the trim. Gah! Through all of the obstacles, somehow I missed that the trim paint we used was OIL-BASED! Not only that but we put something in the paint called "flood penetrol" to decrease brush strokes! Oil based paint & this flood penetrol are both high in VOC & potentially very dangerous for the fetus. I can't stop googling it, & everything says the same thing... Possible miscarriage, birth defects, brain damage & learning disabilities. I am now 36 weeks & no longer concerned about birth defects or miscarriage. But what if I've caused brain damage or learning disabilities?!?! I am beyond anxious right now & I know there is absolutely nothing I can do at this point.
It was a careless mistake that I can't believe I made. We were probably painting with it for around 3 hours, & the room wasn't ventilated great because because it was August in Houston! AND I got it on my skin.
Has anyone else made stupid mistakes like this before & everything turned out fine? I really just need to stop searching the internet because everything I read makes me more & more fearful 😢
