am I being controlling?

So my SO has been out the past two nights now till about 2:30am and he wakes up really tired and can be grumpy and wants to sleep all day and tonight he's said he's going out and I told him I don't think he should becasue he has to be up for work at 6am and now he's ignoring me even though I said to him Now that he can go out and do what he wants. Am I Being to possessive by saying he can't go out or am I right?
