Birth story
So I'm a little late but I want to share my story.
I went in to the hospital wednesday May 4, 2016 around 10pm at 38w 2d due to contractions every 2 minutes. They werent painful but they were consistent. I got into the hospital and I was 4cm dilated and 80% effaced. We waited until 6am thursday may, 5th which is when my doctor came in and I wasnt progressing so they started me on oxytocin. (Keep in mind ive never done drugs, not even smoked a cigarette) so my husband is reading the IV bag and hes like "theyre giving you oxycotin?! I thought you wanted a med free labor and delivery??" I freaked out then read it and was like "no babe thats oxytocin. Its a stronger dose of pitocin to help contractions cone stronger so I can progress." Anyway my doctor came back at 12 noon on the 5th and I was 6cm still at 80% effaced but my water hadnt broken yet, so the doctor broke my water for me. Thats when the contractions started hurting. At around 5pm the contractions were less than a minute apart, and so bad I was passing out between them. Still no pain meds or epidural. Finally at 6:58 I felt the urge to push. I pushed about 10 times and the nurse freaked out because my son was almost out and the doctor wasnt in the room yet so she put her hand on my baby's head and held him in. I almost kicked her in the face because she kept telling me not to push but I couldnt help it! I had to! The doctor came in at 7:08 his eyes got REALLy wide and he was hurrying to put his doctor clothes on so he could deliver my son. I pushed 1 more time and felt his head come out, 1 more push and his shoulders were out, and finally 1 more push and my beautiful baby boy Dean Nolan Andreatos was born after a 20 hour med free labor at 7:11pm May 5, 2016 weighing 8lb 7oz and 21 & 1/5 inches long.
