Thick dark blood?

Question

I'm roughly 5 weeks and just had some very thick, dark bleeding when I went to the bathroom. 
I googled it and it said its possibly a blood clot, and that people who smoke are more likely to get blood clots during pregnancy. 
I'm in the process of quitting, so by the end of the week I will be done. I am cutting down and am now down to about 3 a day. 
Should I be worried?! I have no idea what to do, and I'm worried that it's too early to tell if the baby is still okay.

Go to the er. Don't be panicked just go to get an ultrasound to see if it is a blood clot I had a clot when I was early on and had tons of bleeding I thought the worse so I went to er and they did ultrasound and found that I had a SCH but it ended up going away by my 20 week scan. Just make sure that's what is wrong

I smoked/ate editables up till the last month, I've been sober 5 days. I never once bled, so I have no idea...

I would go to the er. Any bleeding may be a cause for concern. Everything might be ok but I would get it checked!

My OB told me any bleeding that was not brown was a cause for concern and she wanted to know about it. What's concerning about anything more than just light spotting is it generally means your cervix is slightly open which is a sign of a potential miscarriage. I would definitely keep your eye on it, if the bleeding gets heavier you want want to go to the emergency room. They won't be able to stop the miscarriage but they will be able to tell you if your having one or not.
