If you dont ovulate can you still get pregnant? Like if you are on birth control do you still ovulate? Im so confused.

Birth control stop ovulation so if you have unprotected sex you won't get pregnant but it's not 100% effective,  I'm only 16 tho so I might be missing some information...

Hormonal birth control like the pill, patch, and nuvaring, works in a few different ways. The first method is by thickening your cervical mucus so that it's more difficult for the sperm to make it to the egg (think of trying to swim in a pool of molasses vs water). The second method birth control works is by preventing ovulation by providing a constant dose of hormones (so the eggs can't mature and release) and the third method hormonal birth control works by is making it difficult for the egg to implant into the uterus. This is why taking the pill ay the same time is so important. If you don't take it at the same time it can allow any one (or all) of these methods to fail and allow fertilization and implantation

From what I understand birth control you still ovulate but it makes your uterus unable to have an egg implant. You get your period so that means you must have ovulated because it's the shedding of the dead egg and lining. But I'm not 100%
