IUD birth control?

Question

Any moms had or thinking about getting the IUD implant thing for birth control? I'd like personal experiences and things like that. I've done some research on it so I don't need the horror stories you've read in articles. (Fully aware that some woman had it go into their uterus and they've had to have surgery) Thanks!

Had the Mirena inserted in February of last year. Bled and cramped almost constantly until it was removed surgically in July. 
For me it was absolute hell, but you never know how your body will react until you try it. Whatever you decide, good luck.

I had the paragard IUD for about 1.5 years before I had it removed. The bleeding during my period was heavier while the IUD was in place but it was nice to be nonhormonal. I also have PCOS and was told I'd have a very difficult time getting pregnant. One month after having it removed, I got my BFP 😊 I plan on getting the paragard again once my daughter arrives which will be next week some time.

I had the copper (no hormone) IUD for years before we decided to get pregnant, and I will be getting it back 2 weeks after I give birth. I love my IUD. Never failed,  no problems. Even, easy to remove.  Just causes a crampy period. But nothing a extra dose of Tylenol can't fix.

I had Mirena when I conceived in December, now obviously that is not a common case. I had had it for a little over a year at that point and that year was honestly so horrible... It made my PCOS worse, I would go months without a period and then would randomly have one and when I did have one I bled so much and was in so much pain I honestly thought I was going to die.

I have heard women love it, and ive heard women like me who hate it, but I have yet to hear an in-between

Long story but heres ny experiences. I had Mirena (hormonal iud) for 2 years and had a TON of vaginal discharge as a combination of a reaction to the horemones and that my body didn't like that there was something foreign in there. It was basically like I had a low grade yeast infection all the time, my skin was always itchy and irritated from having the discharge, even though I would go in again and again and never had an infection, it was just "normal physiological discharge." Beyond being irritated and itchy, I just felt gross and it turned me off to having sex at all which... what was the point of having it then! after struggling with literally every other type of birth control I got the paragard (copper non hormonal) IUD in last summer. I had extreme bleeding and cramping which is what is expected for quite a while with this type. I bled through my pants and would bleed for 2-3 weeks out of three month and cramps so bad I could hardly get out of bed for at least the first weeks. I wanted to push through because the bleeding and cramping are supposed to get better in the first year but it was affecting my life and work so much (not to mention only being able to have sex for one week out of the month) I got it out after 4 months with the intention of using condoms, turns out I developed a latex allergy so went to natural family planning as a last resort and got pregnant with this little surprise nugget the first month, lol.

I had the Mirena for 2 years and it was great! I didn't get my period at all. It hurt a little going in and when they took it out but only for a couple of seconds. I'm going to get it again at my 6 week pp visit! Hope this helps.

I had mirena put in 4 years ago at my postpartum visit after my first child. I hated it. My periods sucked, my cramps were a lot more painful and I'd have a lot of back pain with them as well. My SO could almost always feel the threads poking his penis during sex and it was even painful for him a few times. I only had the iud for about 6 months before it expelled on its own. 
A lot of women love iuds, but for me personally it was not a good experience.

I had the Mirena after my second and I hated it. I could "feel" it and it made sex painful. It was amazing once I had it removed. Went to NuvaRing instead and that worked out much better. Once I'm done nursing this time I'll go back to using the NuvaRing.

I had the Mirena for 4 years and loved it. Got it removed at the beginning of December and found out I was pregnant in the beginning of January 😊  Getting another one at my 6w PP visit.

I had Mirena for about 7 months. It wasn't terrible but i felt like my sex drive definently went down a little after getting it. i also had excessive discharge that was really uncomfortable and when i asked my doctor about it, she said that it could be a side effect and it was nothing to worry about. To me, the amount of discharge i had wasn't worth it so i got rid of it. Then we decided to have another baby and got pregnant 3 months after taking it out! After this baby, i think i'll plan on trying another IUD different from mirena and see how that one goes. But i'd suggest IUDs to anyone because they're convenient to anyone who has a busy life!
