Are you doing a maternity shoot?

I'm conflicted. I don't like wedding/baby showers and I don't like engagement photos, because they all seem to have that "look at me! Look at me!" quality. But for some reason, I'm debating the maternity shoot. Convince me either way: should I do it, and why? Should I skip it, and why?

I will not because I wanted professional pictures of our daily life while "documenting" the bump but every single photographer around me is doing these ridiculous nature-flowy gown-flower crown pictures I hate ! I don't wanna feel like Mother Earth or a forest princess, I just want professional pics of what our life is right now! I would hate to show pictures to my kid and it would be like "wtf mom who's randomly walking in the forest with a sheer top and flowers in your head ??" Haha just my opinion though !

So, I normally hate having my picture taken. I'm plus size and my SO is a really fit small framed guy. I was so nervous but I had my daughter so young and I'm older and wanted to capture this pregnancy no matter what. My hair was horrible. I did my own make up, but I'm so glad we did it. We laughed the whole time we were trying to pose and to capture that genuine joy and happiness...to see the love we have for each other captured...I was speechless. It suddenly became so much more than capturing my bump but that raw excitement, joy and genuine love we have for each other. 😇

We are doing more family photos I did maternity photos with my first it's fun to look back on them and see the beauty sometimes we don't see that just looking in the mirror

I'm doing it because I want the memory to look back at and I think it will be fun to look back at when my LO is older. I also did engagement pictures for myself and my husband. If you decide to do it, do it for you and your memories. No one else matters. Heck, I am not even posting any of them on social media not have I or will I even announce my pregnancy on social media. The people that I truly care about already know and will be the only ones that I purposefully share this exciting time with.

I ONLY did some because my husband loves to take pictures. Without a few drinks I'm rather uncomfortable behind a camera ☺️

Do it! Even if you're not into taking pictures.  Just imagine how beautiful it's going to be when you're 70 yrs old and you take the pictures out. All the memories of your pregnancy and you can show your grandkids! And heck if you don't want to share them w anyone don't but it'll be a beautiful moment captured even just for yourself!
