formula for jaundice?

I took my daughter to her follow up appointment after being discharged Wednesday 9/14, she was born 9/12, and the pediatrician said she had a little bit of jaundice and that I need to use formula. Did any of your pediatricians say that? I won't be going back to her for other reasons, I'm just curious as to what others have experienced.

My doctor told me there's no vitamin D in breast milk and gave me vitamin D in liquid form to give to my son for the first month.

Nope. Mine just told me to breastfeed more if I could and put her in the sunlight by the window every day for at least 15 minutes.

My daughter's cleared up a few days after my milk came in.

No, but I imagine they said it because it starts to clear up the more fluid the baby takes in. By no means does that HAVE to be with formula though.

My first son was born premature and had jaundice, it improved enough for us toLeave the hospital after two weeks but then came back.  He was almost two months before we finally got it to go away. My pediatrician suggested that we would do a three day break on breast milk and go formula if we didn't get it to clear.

My baby also had a little bit of jaundice. The pediatrician told me to feed her every two hours with formula and it helped.

Yes. I started out breast-feeding but I was so engorged that I wasn't getting let down and my baby wasn't getting enough from me. So because jaundice can be so scary they had me supplement as well. It just makes it so you know how much they're getting exactly and it can help the baby pee and poop which slowly helps the jaundice to go away.
