Here's the thing, people are always talking and writing about medical costs going up and up, partly because docs order so many tests that are nice to have but not really need to have. I feel like this is a classic example. I have large problem #1: not ovulating. There's a standard treatment that aside from some lame side effects isn't particularly dangerous. Then, there's a small but not tiny possibility of confounding factor: blocked tubes. However, no signs or risk factors for it in my case. So, let's deal with big problem #1, not run around spending a mint to rule out side issues that aren't even that likely! Give me the treatment, THEN if it doesn't work lets do further tests!

Anyway just sharing this in case anyone has words of comfort (and do NOT tell me it was necessary, I disagree). And also as a reminder to stay in control of your treatment and not let doctors strong arm you into things you don't want to do. The test was uncomfortable and invasive and I wish I'd pushed back a lot harder on getting it. At least now I'm sure there's no issue but frankly, for $700 I could have stood the uncertainty.
