Out in Public?

Does anyone else feel guilty taking baby out in public?! I've taken our 7 week old out a lot but every time, I feel very guilty and worry she will get sick.

What??? No. I started going on outings with baby girl from week two and I haven't stopped. I got shit to do, and life doesn't stop just because I had a baby.

I just don't let people touch him... He's 2 months on the 22nd and isn't sick. I feel like it would be stupid to not bring them out.. You can't hide out in your house for two months. I'd go crazy! Lol don't feel guilty. We just went on a five day vacation to Sedona to meet my parents

Germs are good and normal. We go out all the time. Baby is six weeks. He hasn't gotten sick. If he does, we'll cross that road when we get there.

I have taken my 7 week old lots of places, but never let people touch her. A few days ago I had a hair appt and asked my MIL to come with me to sit with LO since I'm not ready to be away from her yet. I didn't know any of the ladies at the salon but MIL does. A few ladies held her (asked me first but what the hell am I supposed to say) and a few ladies touched her. I was so ready to get out of there!! She wont be going back to the salon with me ever again.

I did worry the first couple times taking her out, and she actually did get a cold at 6 weeks which was awful, but we survived it. I felt guilty for that but then I told myself even if we had waited until after her shots, there is no shot for the common cold so she could have gotten it anyways. I got the same cold the I think my husband brought home from work so sometimes it's just unavoidable. We can't live in a bubble! And I don't know if you're breastfeeding or not, but if so baby gets antibodies from us so they aren't totally defenseless.

We worried but didn't let strangers touch her. She went to dr for first well check/follow up at 48 hours old. She had to return few times that week for weight checks (milk wasn't enough to sustain her 🙁). We figured she has been to where actual sick people go can't be any worse taking her to store and such. So we have actually been out and about since then. She has been just fine. Again we don't let anyone touch her and wash hands before picking her up.

So far in her 9 weeks of life we have been to restaurants, shopping, zoo, train ride, and family/friends'. Also swung by my work few times. Anyone we know who wants to hold her washes hands first. Building immune system is important as long as done wisely. Ask your pediatrician if you have any questions or concerns. Ours told us that for her to get sick from the big worries (or anything really) they would have to be exhibiting symptoms like running nose etc.

Again talk with your dr. This is just our experience thus far.

I was nervous about taking her out before she was vaccinated until someone told me that the immunizations she will be getting (measles or mumps or whatever) are not really diseases she'll be running into at the mall... Hah.

I don't take my LO around sick people or a lot of little toddlers, but otherwise she goes everywhere with me!  And usually behaves better than she would at home!  😊

Our LO is 11 weeks old now and he goes everywhere with us! He even went camping at 2 weeks old. I was nurvous that he'd get sick, but I figured going out will only help build his immune system. Granted, I still try to avoid obviously sick individuals.
