At your wedding did you eliminate speeches from your maid of honor & best man?

I just want everyone to feel comfortable at my wedding and I don't want anyone to be a nervous wreck the whole day about giving a speech. So I've thought about just eliminating speeches from my maid of honor and best man at our reception. Did anyone else do that?

We did! We actually did not have a "maid of honor" or "best man" in the first place, and we did not want anyone to feel obligated to give a speech (I know if it were me, I would absolutely hate being forced to public speak haha). My mom did say a little something, but we did not refer to it as a "toast," and it was not a traditional speech. 
I say do what you want! Our wedding went just beautifully, and we did not do a lot of those traditions (also no "giving away," bouquet/garter tosses, things like that). In the end it is your day, and there is no reason you can't break tradition of you want to. ☺️ In fact, going with what is true to you will make the day feel more unique to who you are. I find lots of traditions too stuffy and/or meaningless for me, so we dropped a lot of them.

I don't want speeches or any of the traditional things. I find them mundane, and both of us hate attention of any sort.

We didn't have them give speeches. Guests don't care about the speeches anyway-- IMO, they're more for you-- so if you are ok with not having them speak, then eliminate the speeches!

We made it so if they wanted us to kiss instead of clinking their glass they had to DO  something- share a memory, sing at us (we have a lot of musical friends), that sort of thing.   That way it got more people involved and if they didn't want to share they didn't have to (more people than I thought would, did).

We did warn people ahead of time and made a little "kissing menu" (Google it) for each table.

The best man at our wedding was pretty nervous about it because he's sometimes a little shy, but it was a great speech!! Glad it was a "requirement" for his position as best man 😊

Yea mine just gave toasts... My maid of honor I was fine with giving a speech if she wanted to but my husband's best man was an idiot who I was worried would say the wrong things. I begged my husband to have him keep it short. My husband actually just told him to say one sentence and even wrote that sentence down for him lol. Even though my husband had a fine speech from the heart for him for his wedding.

We didn't even bring them up lol. But our best man did one and 2 of my bridesmaids did one together. I think the only people who dint make a speech was me and hubby 😅

Our two best men gave speeches (his brother and best friend. His friend's was hilarious and everyone was in tears laughing), two maids of honor (my sisters) and my FIL. My dad didnt give his speech til right before our dance a little later. I didnt cry all day until my dads speech. ❤️

We had them do the speeches at the rehearsal dinner. We had a giant firework show and some other things and there just wasn't enough time on the wedding day.
