cheated on me...again?

So my boyfriend tested positive for syphilis and he has this disgusting lesion on his penis. He cheated on me in April about 5 months ago with 2 hookers he paid online for. I forgave him. And we continue on dating. I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and he tested positive last Sunday. I haven't cheated and have been tested for this twice for the sake of the baby and I tested negative! But how? We had plenty of sex in between these 5 months *tmi sorry* that's how I got pregnant. I've asked him numerous times did he cheat on me recently and he insist that he hasn't. I kinda of believe him but how does he get syphilis 5 months after he cheated and I didn't catch it/ don't have it? I'm so confused how would you guys feel in this situation? Then also I researched syphilis and a lesion shows up 1-90 days after being exposed normally. But again he insisted there's no one else.The nurse asked him in the last 6 months has it been anyone else.. so could it be possible he got it allll the way from then?

Some diseases take a while to show up on positive on tests keep getting you both retested

It could be from when he first cheated. 
Was he tested and treated afterwards? If so, (specially if he was treated) I'd say he cheated again.
But with some things there aren't any physical signs until way later on. Specially in men.
