Big country house or hip Apartment?

Question

What would you rather? A big house in the middle of nowhere (in an inconvenient slightly ugly kind of way not a romantic rolling countryside kind of way). Or a very nice but very small apartment in a good pretty part of town? Would your choice be different if you had two children (baring in mind that if you had the apoarent you would be able to go to a massive park everyday and could afford a bit of help looking after them too.

Country house! The land could always be fixed up, you have plenty of room, and you have privacy and a chance to have your kids outside!

My so and I have lived in an apartment for the last 7 years (between two places) I am so ready to have our house. Which is a town house.

Sorry, donMt know how to edit these things. I think I should clarify. When I said town I mean country town-it is still very built up so town houses/apartments, very little parking, lots of restaraunts and parks but not a city. We would take the train to London for work. When I said country I meant small village/middle of a field. The properties that we are looking at are all with a five mile radius of the school we've picked out for our kids. The apartment is actually a tiny town house, around 900sqf. The house would be somewhere between 1400 and 2000 sqf with a modest garden, no acreages I'm afraid. The house we would be stuck with. The apartment we will be able to sell on short notice if we need to.

It looks like I'm the exception lol. Small apartment hands down. My last place was just under 400 sq ft, but I was walking distance from absolutely everything.

I don't have kids yet so that may be a part of it, but I honestly couldn't imagine raising any away from the culture and advantages of my city.

Depends on where do you have to travel for work- kids' school...

We recently bought our first place: it is not a big house- but a large apartment- far away from where we used to rent 
Now I am travelling 4 hours a day to go to work and back!
I'd prefer a smaller place closer to where I work and where my daughter's nursery is and travel 1-2 hours a day!

After almost 13 years living in central London, my partner and I are moving to a house in the countryside in Portugal. Mainly because we are having kids now... (moving 8 weeks after our daughter is born... hopefully early Feb) for us, London has been amazing but I think the countryside will give our kid a better childhood

I would prefer a nice small ranch house with a barn so I can have horses. Oh and lots of acres too! I wanna have a nice garden and bonfire as well as places to ride my horses 😝 this would be the dream!

I grew up in a big farm house 45 miles from the closest city, so to me, I'm big country house all the way! I live in the city now and feel so suffocated, but when baby gets here hubby and I are getting some property in the country and buying a herd of yaks. I want my children to grow up rolling around in nature, and I miss seeing the stars.
