How to talk to my ex boyfriend

Ive been going on a Closure hunt and I've been trying to forgive thd people I've hurt so that I don't have to look at myself in the mirror and think about the shitty things Ive done. However My Ex boyfriend is next on my list and the last one. Yet its been a month since I last apologized and I've been trying to build up the confidence of talking to him via Text.

And because I live in the next city, its hard to bring him to talk face to face. Yet everytime I try to talk to him, I chicken out, yet it feels like he my last ticket to happiness. Am I doing it right? And is Text the right way or does that make me a coward?
