Took my SIL and niece home from the hospital

Esther
I'll be honest, before Melody was born I thought a lot of things would matter. Having gone with my brother and his wife to the hospital, I can tell you it really doesn't. Laura's birth plan went completely out the window when we got there. She wound up needing the epidural and not being able to walk around like she had hoped. And ya know what? It didn't matter. 'Cause she delivered her baby girl and they are both perfectly healthy and happy. When you hold the baby for the first time, you're not thinking that the hospital blanket doesn't compliment her eyes well enough or that it's too rough. All I could do was keep booping her tiny, soft-as-a-marshmallow nose. While we were waiting to be discharged on the last day, she peed while my brother was changing her diaper, thereby soiling her adorable coming home outfit (and last set of clothes we had for her in the room.) She wound up coming home in a generic newborn shirt from the nursery. All the flowers and balloons were sweet but wound up being a huge extra hassle to get into the car. Nothing about those three days were pinterest perfect, but they were most definitely perfect.
