When did having a baby become so... formal?

I don't know if "formal" is the right word to use here, but let me explain. Since being on this app, I feel like pregnancy is all about the social media game these days. With formal announcements that have to be unique and special, gender reveal parties, elegant baby showers, then milk bath photos, and professional maternity shoots. Has all of this always been a thing? I haven't done any of these really but I feel like I should be or something. And just as a disclaimer, I'm not trying to bash anyone. I think all the announcements and photos are beautiful. Im not telling anyone they should stop what they're doing, I guess I'm just wondering if pregnancy has always been like this or if it's changed a bit due to the world of social media. I'll be honest, it's just a little strange to me.
