I need advice!

Before you call me "An asshole with a big ego", hear me out.

At school, there is a boy I like, and he likes me. Nobody else knows this. I REALLY want to ask him out, but I'm afraid I'll get bullied by the assholes in my school. Should I follow my heart and ask, or should I accept the fact that I'll get made fun of and not ask? Again, do not call me names because I'm a teen in a crisis lol.
