How do you cope with moodiness / anger problems?

Hi all,

I'm having some trouble with myself in the past two years... ended my engagement, started dating someone new (2 years now), currently laid off/unemployed and actively searching, not as "girlishly" happy about life/anything and saddest part is I've started to despise my friends and family... in general, I've become more aware that people only care about themselves, me included.

This negative thinking makes me somewhat of a moody person. I don't know how it handle it properly. I'd say mean things to my boyfriend, sometime really sad things like "There's no point of trying anymore. Life is lame." (I'm a bit depressed but not suicidal so don't worry). Today we planned an overnight trip but I got moody about a joke and we canceled it. He's out hiking and stuff to cool down.

For the past 4 hours, I'm really upset with myself.

How do you control your anger / moodiness during that crucial moment of turning it to a big fight or making peace? I can't never seems to find a balance.
