7 week old BF only 11-15 min total?

My little guy used to average 20-30 minutes total (10-15 on each side), but lately he's been eating 11-15 minutes total and acting full. Is this normal? Anyone else deal with this? He seems too young to be getting so efficient, and I'm worried he's not getting enough

It's true that as long as baby has enough wet diapers(wet, not poopy. Sometimes babies go days between poops and it's normal), then they're getting enough. My midwife and pediatrician told me the length of feedings really only matters when they're a brand new newborn and can't regulate feedings on their own. At your baby's age it's ok for baby to lead the feedings, so go ahead and listen to him; if he doesn't want to eat very long its ok as long as he has at least 5 wet diapers a day and he's gaining weight. My 8 week old daughter only eats 10 to 15 minutes every couple hours on one breast but she's gaining about a pound a week. You're doing a good job mama!

Totally normal! You've just got a very efficient water! I got worried too when mine went from 20-30 minutes to 10-15, but he's gaining like crazy and thriving! So I consider myself one lucky duck 😊

I was worried about the same and the lactation consultant told me they actually eat an ounce a minute! 😮 the rest of the time is just for comfort.

As long as he's having enough wet diapers I'd let him be, my daughter fluctuates eating time every few weeks
