When is it time to start pushing for marriage?

How many years? We know we want three kids but since I'm getting up there in age, (39!) I'm feeling a bit rushed. We are financially stable, everything is going right, been together quite a while.... what year would you want to push for marriage because you both want that before kids?

I know how you are feeling. I regret not being married first before I had my son, however thank goodness I wasn't as my partner turned out to be abusive towards me, it was a lot easier to walk away.

I am in the same position as you, however, have not been in a relationship as long. It really depends if you want a big wedding etc or are happy with a small quick one. I'm personally going to go down the kids option first then get married as time also is against us. My son is going to walk me down the aisle when I finally get married. I feel I can commit to someone without a piece of paper making it official. The only good thing about my partner is that I will get 2 weddings as we are from different religious backgrounds so it will be worth the wait!

I'm 40 and expecting our first, and we struggled with infertility issues for 2 years to get to this point = if you want 3 healthy children, get started on that first before the wedding!

You can always have a big wedding later. Unfortunately, unless you're ok with donor eggs, 3 kids is a tall order for your body (statistically speaking). You could always do egg retrieval so you can bank your eggs to do FETs after a wedding, but you would have to probably do 2 IVF cycles (at $17 000 - $22 000/cycle) and may not even up with enough to bank. Plus there is the cost of storage etc. And sometimes, you may not get pregnant from IVF.
