How much did you spend on baby stuff?

Just wondering how much everyone ended up spending on essential items for baby. We are so thankful for friends gifting us with some items at our shower, but we also know we shouldn't rely on other people for everything we need. Just trying to figure out realistic expectations on what we may end up spending overall. Thanks!!!

I don't even want to know. Several thousand. I don't like buying used though. I went in a second hand baby store and everything was sticky and gross. So no thanks. I wouldn't ever feel like it's clean enough.

My husband built our crib, we bought 50 BumGenius AIOs right away, and our infant car seat, some clothes and blankets. We used a vintage dresser in his nursery.

After that everything else was gifts from all my showers. I got SO much stuff from my shower I've donated or returned 50% of it and kept only what I really love or need.

There's no need to go crazy. They really don't need a lot. Save your money!

We're an older couple and this will be our first child, so we've budgeted $3500 for essential baby equipment. To save money (and bc I'm crazy picky), I've been sewing my own swaddling blankets & buntings from organic cottons, along with some maternity clothes.

If you buy new and top of the line, thousands. There are tons of ways to save money. We have definitely over spent but I wouldn't return a single thing. You also just have to ask yourself "do I need the organic muslin hand dyed small batch boutique 12 dollar bib? Because there's also a ten pack of bibs here for ten bucks"

Trying to stay around $2500. But that is with buying new items. You can find lots of cheaper options that work perfectly fine! The only item really recommended to buy new is a car seat.

We're reusing a crib my oldest used but sanding and repainting it.  We bought a dresser from a flea market for $60 and sanded and painted it.  Got some good stuff from the baby shower. Had to buy the travel system, monitor, swing, glider, and pac n play so maybe $800. And on top of that we feel like we should redo our oldest's room so just bought her a twin bunk bed for $250! Now need her dresser! So overall quite a bit! It's fun and totally necessary! Lol
