what should I do? (to be induced or wait it out)

So I will be 40 weeks on Monday and my doctor is asking me to come in and be induced on my actual due date! I am already 4cm dialated and 90% thinned out... I have no signs of going into labor but I kind of want my baby to come on his own... but then again, if he doesn't come by this weekend, I'm too anxious to meet him so I'm kind of considering the induction even though it's not necessary! Anyway... thoughts? Opinions?

I had a natural child birth with my first no induction & I just had my second on 10/3 & I had an induction due to diabetes & let me tell you it was terrible!!! My labor was 18 hours the contractions were unbearable.  The pitocin cause my babies heart rate to drop & I was stuck on oxygen for over 6 hours to help with her heart rate.  Having a natural child birth vs. an induction I would hands down chose the natural way.  Good luck with what you chose but this was my experience. Induction can lead to a C section which almost happened to me.  Make sure you read about all the risks before you decide :)

Well I think a major factor is whether you wanted to go naturally or medicated. If you want to go naturally (no pitocin, no epidural), then I'd wait it out as long as your doc thinks is safe. With my first I was almost 2 wks overdue. Still had to be induced, but I didn't use Pitocin or an epidural. If you're ok with or are planning to use Pitocin and/or an epidural/Pitocin, then I say you should be induced whenever you're comfortable with it. If you and baby are healthy, there really is no need to induce on your due date. Most FTMs go past their due date anyway. Basically, do what feels best for you and baby 😉

Wait it out 😊😊 my first time waiting with my 4th and it was awesome! 9 days over due but I was  able to have my first natural birth and it went so fast! It's worth the wait.

Hi! I was induced at 41 weeks and 2 days bc of low fluid around my second baby. My first baby came when natural labor started at 41 and 2 days. My midwife used a method I could get behind. A baseline I would say. She used Cervidil. See if that's an option. It's a great first step.  Some docs use a foley bulb first, which seems fine too. Anyway Cervidil is a very thin tampon like applicator. It softens and helps dilate the cervix. It can stay in you for up to 12 hrs and you are monitored at the hospital while it's in you. I got it pulled out at 6 hrs bc it started giving me contractions too close together. Once they took it out, I had my babe 3.5 hrs later. Nothing else needed.

You should be able to go up to 42 weeks before they really push you to induce, as long as you and babe are doing fine.

Wait! There is no medical reason to induce you yet. It's so much better to go into labor on your own. You made it this long you can go another week
