38wks 1cm dilated and baby's head is really low

I just had a dr's appointment and he checked my cervix. He said I am 1cm dilated like a fingertip and the baby's head is really low. I haven't lost my mucus plug and this is my first. I can't wait for my baby to come soon!! Does it sound like I am going to make any progress soon or is it more likely that I will make it to the due date ??
