birth control help!!!

i want to take birth control since my boyfriend and i are sexually active and i definitely don't want a lil one of us running around just yet but i'm only 17 and actually kindve terrified to ask my mother. we really don't have that relationship with each other and i don't want her to not let me see him. she's also joked about it but i feel like it's a trap ya know?
