Gbs positive ?

Group b strip anyone else get a positive results I am freaking out they say it's a bacteria in your body a lot of women test positive for it and during labor have to be on antibiotics anyone have this when they have had there baby's?

I was GBS negative with my first, but tested + this time. I'm also slightly freaked, but like someone else said, just prioritize getting straight to the hospital when labor begins to make sure you get enough of the antibiotics.

I'm using midwives and consider myself pretty "hippy crunchy" in regards to birth...I extensively researched options for GBS+ ladies who are "natural birthers" like myself, and ultimately decided that although I don't love the idea of my baby getting antibiotics on day 1 (via placenta), the downsides of a possible GBS infection are worse than the unknown "downsides" to messing with babies gut flora via antibiotics. It's definitely sage, she GBS infections can be fatal. If GBS + and don't get antibiotics I beleive is a 1 in 200 chance of baby contracting GBS infection, vs if you get enough antibiotics it's a 1 in 10,000 chance.

I'm positive too. I'm not worried about it. As long as you get to the hospital soon enough to be on antibiotics for at least 4 hours then you're good. You will have iv antibiotics for 20-30 minutes to get it in you then they'll unhook you and four hours later they'll do another round of antibiotics it's not as bad as you think. Just don't dilly dally at home until last minute and your baby will be fine

Whatever you do let them give you the medicine you will need it's safe if your given the antibiotics but my friend did a home birth and she wasn't tested for it and it wasn't a good outcome for her baby it's serious if not treated but it's really nothing to stress about if your treated for it

Nothing to freaking about. Around 1 in 4 women test positive for it during pregnancy. They'll give you penicillin every 4 hours during labor until baby is born. Super common

yes. he did my swab and i went last week to get the results mine came back positive. dcotor said it's common for us to get them. they'll give me medicine for it. i never had it with my first child. how do you even get it?

I had it with my first pregnancy. They put you on antibiotics during labor/delivery to protect the baby as he/she makes his/her way into the world. I find out next week if I'm positive for it with this pregnancy. My doctor told me it's different with each pregnancy so I may not even have it with this one but we'll find out

Ive had it with my other two kids. I got the antibiotic 4hrs before delivery and everything was great. My son came in two hrs so i had to stay 3days for monitoring but he was perfectly fine as well.

It's no big deal. They just give you meds in your iv during delivery. I was positive with my first but negative with this one.
