contractions??

FTM- I have experienced some tightening and strange feeling in my stomach. Best way to describe it is it feels like the baby is literally pushing itself against my stomach. I have no idea if what I'm feeling is contractions or just some weird pregnancy thing. I'm almost 39 weeks along. If someone with some experience could advise I would greatly appreciate it!! 😊

That sounds like Braxton hicks to me...but I'm a FTM too, so what do I know. 😂😂

If your whole stomach is tight then it is a contraction or a bh, if it is just hard on one side or the top then it is baby.

I was having BH contractions for a few weeks which I described as period cramps. Had to go to L&D yesterday and started having contractions every 2-5 minutes and they felt nothing like the cramping. It was a tightening and pain that started at the top and went all the way to the bottom down to my hips and would last 30-45 seconds then just go away!

If they're not painful then what you're describing is definitely Braxton hicks. When you are in labor and begin to contract you will experience that same tightening along with pain that will only intensify and become longer and closer together as you progress in dilation.

It could be contractions,or it could just be the baby doing exactly that pushing up againsnt your stomach. Contractions usually are a very severe cramping that you feel in the lower abdomen and can even be in the lower back as well! If you continue to feel it and your feeling it every 5 min apart I would say go to your hospital. I am 39 weeks myself now and have been having contractions off and on for about a week now and am sceduled for induction next thursday but I am hopeful she will come on her own before. Good luck! 😊
