Are the first 2 weeks awful?

FTM here. I am taking a breastfeeding course to prepare for baby to get here. I keep the first 2 weeks are really hard and I will be miserable. I don't expect it to be easy, but I am prepared for the lack of sleep and baby being here. Any mama out there who had babies and just loved being a mom right away?? It just seems like everyone is so negative with you won't sleep or do anything fun again. I'm excited to be a mom and I think I might love it!

Of course you love it all but nothing prepares you for the first 2 weeks and how exhausted you are. You cant even imagine.

I think a big part of the reason that the first two weeks are so rough is just due to sleep deprivation. As a mother of two kids I kind of find it humorous to read these women complain about not being able to sleep the last few weeks of pregnancy and they can't wait till he gets here so they can get some rest. You don't know sleep deprivation until you've had a child. That being said I absolutely loved being a mother from the second it started. Children are amazing. ☺

It's hard, but not horrible. I loved my little boo from the start and wanted to spend all day just snuggling him. Try to make sure you have a support system that will let you relax and spend time with the baby. Limit visitors. Consider a post-partum doula. Or see if friends/neighbor's can help deliver food and do laundry and tidy. If you're nursing don't hesitate to get help if it's not going well. Get help as soon as there's a problem. Nursing can be uncomfortable at first, but shouldn't be horrible. If you're experiencing depression, say something. Get help. A lot of new moms struggle through the first few weeks because they've been told it's so hard.You shouldn't need to struggle. Ask for help.

My baby boy is 10 weeks now but I loved being a mom from the second I met him. The beginning is one of the toughest things I've been through physically and emotionally but I would do it again in a heart beat. Just know it does it easier. I had a few breakdowns, especially during the night nursing but we are built for this! Take it one day at a time :)
